Blog Post #3 - Happiness the Elusive

1/27/15

Happiness is an odd concept. An ideal, elusive, that we all wish to achieve. Everyone's idea of happiness is different, and I find as we grow older our concept of what happiness changes. Whether that be traveling or starting a family, what we view as "happy" changes. It's starting to seem to me that true happiness can never be attained, but rather contentment is what is sought after. Essentially they are the same thing, but to me there is still a distinction. Contentment conveys a sense of satisfaction. Am I happy with who and where I am in life? I feel like that's the question that we are looking to seek an answer. It might come from the fact that society has notions of what makes someone respectable. We don't all fit into the the mold, how could that even be possible? But I think that their is a place for everyone in life. When a person knows that everything in their life is in the right place and that is where happiness can be found. Optimism.
