Let's take a break from the normal gibberish. What is up with coffee. I never could quite understand the phenomenon that was coffee and how it continues to envelop millions of people around the world everyday. From Britain, to France, to Mexico, and of course the United States its a staple in many places. Of course there are countries who don't have coffee as one of the main energy beverages. For me however I grew up in a country where coffee was a cosmic event, but to me was the equivalent as a grain of sand. I tried it when I was 13, probably younger like most people. I had no pleasure in tasting the bitter brown drink even with all the additives of cream and sugar. To me tea will always be my drink of choice. Coffees sole purpose may only be to maintain efficiency.

I find that the idea of art is a truly abstract thing. Now this may be related to the fact that I am taking Art Appreciation. Most people don't consider some things are intriguing or beautiful unless it is in line with what they see fit. I usually find that this has to do with cultural ideas, but also with what we grew up saying. When you walk into an art museum you will find a whole host of things that you will find either atrocious or captivating. But I found for myself that if I look hard enough, beauty can be found in almost anything, whatever that may be.

Why is it that college education is a necessity to be seen as an adult in American life. The reason why I ask that is because at a community college, you find people that you don't have anything in common with versus a university. The reason that I am saying is because at a community college, the intent is real. We all want to further our education. However, at a university, people attend because that is considered the norm. In my opinion, I feel that some are not truly interested in furthering education. I find it odd when I look around in my classroom and see students my age and can't help but wonder what brought us here, what we have in common, and what we hope to obtain by coming to Front Range Community College.

I've been thinking a lot about what it means to be successful. Does success come from material object? If success were to come from material objects would it mean that we would only place values and things that are temporal? And what does it mean to place value in one's life? Success in America is measured by how much money you make essentially, and what achievements you have procured. To many people that is not necessary ideal, but the American dream is why a lot of us come chasing our dreams here, especially in regards to immigrants. I grew up as a first generation American and a lot of immigrants come here thinking that we can make something more of ourselves from scratch. Success is measured in different lengths to people, but for me, success is measured in education.
